Tumblr seems simple, but there are things that elude me. For instance, there seems to be no easy way to respond or comment on an entry. Which, for our purposes, isn’t so great. I have just checked INFO and have been told the following:
Some blog themes allow you to use the Appearance tab in the Customize area to add the free third-party Disqus commenting service to your blog. If the theme you’re using doesn’t support Disqus on the Appearance tab, you can edit the Custom HTML of the theme to add Disqus. Go to the Customize area, click the Theme tab, and click the Use Custom HTML link at the bottom of the tab. Disqus provides detailed installation instructions on exactly what edits you need to make.
So, okay, I did this and I found a them where it worked. But it was a pain in the ass AND it seems you can only comment directly on the blog (and not here in dashboard). So I’m not sure it’s worth the effort.
Meanwhile, am I correct in thinking that I can only make a new entry HERE in dashboard and NOT on the blog?

I think the easiest way to comment on blog postings is to reblog the posting like I did here.  I f you only have one blog on your account then yes, you post right in the dashboard.  However you could create an open blog to which we can all join.  Then we all post to the same blog, and we don’t have to worry about following and finding everyone’s posts in our feed.  You can also reblog posts within that one blog to make comments.
